Chance, but J.Lo and Jolie both having twins seems suspicious…
It has alot to do with genetics and fertillity medications. however there are soem people who have multiples by luck.
They say identical twins are just a fluke of nature.
Fraternal twins however are carried on the maternal side since they have to do with the actual release of more then one egg… call it loose ovaries.
There’s a couple of factors: genetics, fertility treatmeants, and chance. Identical twins are usually just by chance and fraternal are more likely hereditary
It goes mainly by genetics people who have a family history of twins will more likely have twins then someone who doesn’t, for instance in my family almost every 4th generation has twins, which means i could have a set of twins, it all depends on your family history of twins

The chances of having a twin pregnancy are about 3%. If you have twins in your family, your chance is even greater. If you use fertility drugs, or artificial insemination, your chances are greater still. When you are artificially inseminated, they insert several embryos so that the chances of conceiving are better.
I’m pretty sure that it has to do with your family history like if either of you have twins in your family but some times its just by luck unless you get artificially enciminated
There is about a 1 in 60 chance of getting pregnant with fraternal twins naturally if you are Caucasian. It is a bit higher if you are of African decent and lower if you are Asian. The people who have the highest chance are mothers who have had fraternal twins before, then females who are fraternal twins themselves, sisters of fraternal twins, and then any female who has fraternal twins in her family. They also say that newlyweds are more likely to conceive twins as are women who are older as their ovulation becomes irregular.

In my family my mom has twin sisters, my maternal great grandmother had twins, my paternal grandmother lost twins at 20 weeks pregnant and my great great grandmother had twins. I didn’t know about any of the Grandmother’s twins until I was pregnant with my twins and people started talking about them.
Identical twins are a random act of nature and happen about 1 in every 250 births. There are some studies saying that the fathers sperm may have an enzyme that causes the egg to split, as it seems like identical twinning is carried down on the fathers side.
