Is infertility stopping you from having a baby?

Is infertility stopping you from having a baby?

Babies are beautiful, but.....

Do you know that?

In the total population, more than 45% of women ages 15 - 44, have problems getting pregnant or carrying a baby to term.

Why does it happen?

Age

Fertility begins to decline when a woman once she starts to get older. After an age of 30, the chances of getting infertile is high.

Weight

Over weight or underweight, can cause infertility.Although most of a woman's estrogen is manufactured in her ovaries, 30% is produced in fat cells by a process that transforms circulating adrenal male hormones into estrogen. Because a normal hormonal balance is essential for the process of conception, extreme weight levels can contribute to infertility.

Smoking

Cigarette smoking can cause a woman to be infertile. Alcohol usage may also contribute to it.

Medical Problems

Infertility may be caused by medical conditions such as damaged fallopian tubes or causes hormonal complications. These medical conditions include:

Pelvic inflammatory disease
Endometriosis
Polycystic ovary syndrome
•Premature ovarian failure
•Uterine fibroids

Treatment

Normally, the first step in any treatment is a complete medical history and physical examination to check the patient is healthy or to determine who is having the problem (husband or wife)

Types of Treatments

There are lots of treatments available. But the popular ones are In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) Treatment

IVF can be performed with a womans own eggs and sperm, or with donor eggs and sperm. In the past, IVF was used mainly to treat women who had damaged fallopian tubes.

Dangers of IVF

Besides the popularity of IVF, there are some complications that can arise from this treatment method.
They include:

- Multiple pregnancies (twins, triplets or more) may occur in 25% to 35% of IVF cycles. The majority of multiple pregnancies are twins; however, 5-10% of pregnancies may be complicated with triplets or more.

- Multiple pregnancies can increase risk of premature birth, which may result in fatal respiratory, neurological, and growth complications.

- Multiple pregnancies are also more likely to require cesarean deliveries and can cause increased hypertension, diabetes and hemorrhage during pregnancy.

- IVF babies having low birth weights have also been reported.

So do you want to risk your and your baby's life using IVF? I can hear you say "NO".
