Recognizing the First Signs of Pregnancy

by

The first signs of pregnancy are different for every woman. Besides the obvious glow women exude, there are physical and oftentimes emotional signs that indicate you are in fact pregnant.

Some women know much earlier than others. Women that are in tune with their body and monthly cycle know within a matter of weeks after conception. Others may not be aware until they miss their period. It all depends on the woman and her particular situation.

There are, however, obvious indicators that most women experience. The body is going through a huge change that may lead to some discomfort for the next nine months. Let's go through the most common symptoms.

Women often complain of a sudden lack of energy and constant fatigue. Sleeping patterns will change and the expectant mother may sleep more often. The reason for this is, during the beginning stages of gestation, the hormone levels are at an all time high. Progesterone is building which causes the blood sugar levels to decline taking up your energy reserves. At the same time, blood production is increasing for the new arrival, which also drains your energy.

Another classic symptom is breast enlargement and soreness. Some women experience this change as soon as two weeks after conception. Again, this is caused by hormonal changes in the body that make your breasts tender to the touch. Dizziness may also occur in the early stages. Blood pressure drops, also giving the feeling of light-headiness.

Other clear signs include; morning sickness, food cravings, food aversions, mood swings and constipation. A rise in body temperature is a symptom all women face. The body temperature increases post ovulation. It will remain this way throughout the duration of the nine months. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is important to get tested right away. Taking a home pregnancy test is the fastest and most convenient way to get your results.

It should be noted that these are common symptoms but they are not unique to only pregnant women. They may indicate something different such as illness or emotional stress. Likewise, you can be pregnant without experiencing any of these symptoms.

Once the pregnancy is confirmed, it is important to see a doctor as soon as possible. The sooner this is realized, the sooner you can begin proper prenatal care to ensure a healthy baby. Motherhood is a wonderful, life-changing journey for a woman and her partner. Nine months of discomfort result in a lifetime of pure joy.

If you are trying to conceive a child, it is important for you to recognize the early signs of pregnancy. The sooner you know that you are pregnant, the better you will be able to make the necessary preparations and take precautionary measures.

Usually, you'll be able to take notice of the first signs of pregnancy after 7-10 days following conception. Take particular attention of your bathroom habits. For instance, if you notice your urge to urinate becoming more intense and frequent than usual, suspect a growing fetus in your womb. Urination that is both frequent and intense is often the first indication that you may be pregnant.

Light spotting may also be experienced early on. Spotting is not alarming if the color is pink or light brown and if it appears during the early days of pregnancy. However, if the color turns dark red or black and occurs somewhere between the second and third trimester, that kind of spotting is no longer normal and should be reported to your attending physician at once.

Some women claim of nausea and cramping during the early stages of pregnancy. These can be due to other conditions, of course, but they often present with pregnancy, so you need to watch out for these eventualities, too.

There may also be feelings of fatigue or tiredness. You may feel weak with no drive or energy to do your usual daily tasks.

Then of course, the most obvious and often the telltale sign of pregnancy is the absence of menstrual period.

If you experience any of these signs at all, go and buy yourself a home pregnancy kit to make sure. Sometimes, though, the kit may not provide reliable data, so do the test again. Generally, the rule of thumb is that if you present with more than one pregnancy symptom, there's a strong likelihood that you may, indeed, be pregnant.
