Symptoms within the first Two Weeks in Pregnancy
Mar 15, 2010Emily Rogers
For those women who anticipate the first symptoms of pregnancy, due to the fact that they have been trying to conceive for years, the time spent waiting seems to last forever. this also relates to those young women who fear that last weekend’s irresponsible mistake may lead to an unplanned pregnancy. overall, the anticipation of waiting can keep a woman’s mind thinking the big “what if?” for days.
For some women there are no first signs of pregnancy and symptoms may not show up for several months. However, other women may feel symptoms within the first month. every woman’s body reacts differently to the changes of hormones during pregnancy.
As the egg and sperm meet, the conceptus implants into the uterine lining. this produces a hormone called HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). this hormone is responsible for numerous symptoms in pregnancy, such as nausea, fatigue, bloating and breast tenderness. these types of symptoms may affect some women early on, while others may not notice much difference, if any at all.
Common first Signs of Pregnancy
It’s possible for some women to feel early symptoms after the first couple weeks of conception. the very first signs of pregnancy may vary. However, the most common signs include the following:
- Fatigue – Fatigue is one of the most common first signs of pregnancy. after conception, the levels of progesterone rise and this can cause women to feel very tired and sleepy.
- Cramping or slight spotting – it can be common for pregnant women to experience slight spotting after conception. this is known as “implantation bleeding.” this happens when the egg attaches to the lining of the uterus. this will often take place 10 to 14 days after conception. the spotting is typically much lighter than a normal period and often lighter or different in color, as well.
- Breast tenderness – some women experience tenderness in their breasts as their menstrual cycle approaches. However, this can also be an early sign of pregnancy. Breasts can feel quite sore to the touch and this may happen within two weeks after conception.
- Nausea – Morning sickness is the most common sign of pregnancy. However, the word “morning” doesn’t always apply. Nausea can be a first sign of pregnancy that takes place any time of the day or night. In some cases, this morning sickness occurs as early as two weeks after fertilization.
Although there are many first signs of pregnancy, some women may feel all of them, while others may feel no difference at all. Or, in some cases, some women may only feel one of these many first symptoms of pregnancy. the best way for a woman to know for sure is to wait until the first day of her missed period and take a test.
