Early Signs of Pregnancy Update
July 3rd, 2010
Are you wondering if you are pregnant? usually, a missed period is an indication of pregnancy, but it is not the only tell tale sign that you are pregnant. in fact, a missed period may be caused by other things such as hormonal balance, illness or stress.
If you don’t have a regular menstrual period, it may be difficult to know for sure if you’re pregnant, and only a pregnancy can confirm your condition.
Here are some of the most common signs that women experience when they are in that delicate stage. not all women will experience these pregnancy signs, but most will go through one or two of these symptoms that will tell them right away that they are pregnant.
You may experience some vaginal bleeding or spotting a few weeks after conception, and you may even misinterpret this as your regular menstrual flow that just got a little delayed. A regular menstrual flow is usually light then gets heavy. The light spotting that may happen during pregnancy is brownish and not as thick as regular menstrual flow. If the bleeding become heavier and comes with pain, let your doctor know to make sure that it is not caused by something more serious.
Although often considered as the most common sign of pregnancy, not all women will experience nausea. Morning sickness is quite common during the first trimester, although others may feel it a little later. Vomiting usually happens not just in the morning, but any time of the day.
The breasts will start to enlarge and may feel a little tender as the mammary glands prepare for the production of milk for the baby. Nipples may turn darker and will be quite sensitive to touch.
4. Frequent Urinating
During pregnancy, your body fluids usually increase which means more liquids being disposed of through the bladder. as the baby grows, it will press on your bladder, which may result to more frequent urinating towards the whole term of your pregnancy.
5. Higher Body temperature
You will notice an increase in your body temperature< for at least 3 weeks after conception. This is actually one of the first indications that a woman is pregnant.
During the first months, you may feel bloated in your stomach all the time. Do not be alarmed, as this is quite usual.
Pregnancy can make you feel frequently tired because of the body changes taking place. it may also be caused by the increase in the progesterone levels which makes you feel sleepy all the time. as the baby grows, you will continue to feel tired because of the heavy load you are carrying, plus the discomfort of pregnancy that may keep you awake at night.
8. Increased Appetite
You will notice an increase in your appetite especially during the first trimester. This is actually nature’s way of making you eat more, not just for yourself but more so for your baby.
When it comes to pregnancy, you can’t do a lot of guessing, because you need to be ready for the changes in your body that will happen for every stage of pregnancy. The only way to confirm if you are pregnant is to go to your obstetrician and get a pregnancy test. although there are many pregnancy home kits, not all of them are 100% accurate, so if you have a negative result the first time you take it, try again after two weeks. better yet, have a blood and urine test around 14 days after your expected date for your period to confirm your pregnancy.
Once you have confirmed that you are pregnant, make sure that you are no longer doing things that may endanger your baby’s health, like cigarettes, excessive coffee, alcohol and drugs.
